Vishwas Samaveshi Swadheyan Sansadhan (Inclusion Kit)

Vishwas Samaveshi Swadheyan Sansadhan(Inclusion Kit) was launched on 19th May’2014, Monday at Vishwas, Sector 46, Arya Samaj Road, Gurgaon. The Launch was done at the hands of Mrs Surina Rajan, Principal Secretary, Government of Haryana, School Education Department in presence of Chairperson, Vishwas- Ms. Neelam Jolly and our Partners from Bharti Foundation. The event was attended by representatives of NGOs in the field of disability, Private Schools, general teachers and special teachers from various districts of Haryana, government district education officers and also state officials.

VISHWAS – Vision for Health, Welfare and Special Needs intended to bridge the gap between information and practice of inclusion in the government schools by developing an ‘Inclusion Kit’, hence, undertook a project 'Bridging Barriers-Facilitating the Inclusion of Children with Special Needs within Regular Schools' - to be used by the Haryana State Primary Government Schools Staff in partnership with Department of Education, Haryana and funded by Bharti Foundation

Drawing from years of hands on experience and seeing it work, Vishwas planned to develop resource material in the form of ‘Inclusion Kit’ for all those who are interested and willing to make Inclusion work, which includes ‘Real’ experiences shared and collated in form of frequently asked questions by teachers from mainstream education to deal with attitudinal barriers of stereotyping, fear, denial and apprehensions. The kit is a resource for teachers who will be able to access teaching and learning material available in the kit. This will help them in not only planning their lessons for ‘All’ children but also make the classroom and the school environment user-friendly and inclusive.

The Inclusion kit includes a handbook, a DVD with some short movie clips and some resource material. The IED team of Haryana has been involved in planning of the objectives as well as action plan to implement the same. The aim of the kit is to build confidence in teachers to meaningfully include children with special needs along with other children in their class.
